The Library Is Offering Its First One-Credit Course This Fall!

We’re excited to announce that the Library is offering its first one-credit course this fall: Interrogating the Information Ecosystem. The course, led by research librarians Rachel Leff and Emily Johnson, will explore how to find, evaluate, and contextualize information, as well as how to use it in research. The course is designed to be applicable for students in any field of study. We hope to see some of you there!

BookShare 📚

A crowd-sourced free library! At the beginning of the semester, students can take whatever books they like whenever they like. Throughout the semester, and especially at the end, donate any books you no longer need to live a clutter-free life. (Donations accepted from SLC students & faculty only.) Through 2022/23, we had a total of 1,500+ books donated! They’ll be ready in the Rainbow Reading Room in the Library within the first week of class, but our Pick-Up event will be on Sept 14.

Faculty Authors’ Books Display

In the Rainbow Reading Room is our new semi-permanent, rotating display of current faculty authored works! Mostly books, but including some articles as well, these are available for check-out only.

Banned Books Display ⛔📘

Also in the Rainbow Reading Room is our new semi-permanent, rotating display of books that were banned recently in the 2021/22 school year across the USA. Available for check-out only, each book comes with a bookmark detailing the book’s challenge. For more information about our collection, book bans/challenges, and ways to combat book challenges in the future, see our page here.
