Library Takeover 2024
Library Takeover is the capstone to Orientation Week, but EVERY student is welcome! We’ve missed you all, and there’s no better way to kick off the semester and celebrate being back on campus. The SLC Burlesque Club will kick things off, and then we’ll spend the rest of the night dancing.
We have several workshops throughout the year to get anyone back into the swing of writing and projects. The first available are Library Tours, Using the Library Catalog, and Researching with Databases. More on the way!
Crowd-sourced free books! Join us to take books from the many that were donated at the end of last year. Take as many as you like, and then donate whatever you like at the end of the semester/year. (Can you guess how many were donated last Spring?) BookShare is open all year to take a book or donate. For donations outside this event, please give to the Library Information Desk. (SLC Students & Faculty only)

The Archives is a great place to do research for your conference projects. This summer, we launched a new keyword searchable catalog. The Archivist, Christina Kasman, is available to guide you through the archives research process. Make appointments for archives consultations and research here.
Attention artists! The Library Art Gallery just launched its first season of student art work through end of fall, 2025. The main gallery is located along the corridor between the Learning Commons and the Circulation area. Other areas of the library are available for exhibition. Show your work! The Library Art Gallery is curated and organized by and for students. If interested, please contact Sahara Kai Curry ([email protected]).
The library also offers a sewing machine for any of your projects. Stop by Tim Kail's office located behind the information desk between 11am & 3pm Tues-Fri for a brief tutorial on how to use the machine. Once you've completed the tutorial you'll have evening access to the machine should you need it after office hours.
Subscribe to The Sarah Lawrence College podcast so you never miss an episode. There will be new episodes every Friday during the semester while classes are in session. The season premiere is September 5th and features faculty Ryan Purcell discussing the 1970s rock scene of New York City.
Also, visit our YouTube channel for a serene guided tour of the library.
Beginning Sept. 1, we will accept applications for Circulation Assistants and Evening Shelvers on MySLC here! We welcome all international and work/study undergrad students to apply, and if you want to apply for both roles you only need to submit one application. Until we have all roles filled and trained we’ll be operating with a set of TEMPORARY HOURS. View our hours any time by visiting slc.edu/library, and scroll to the bottom of the page.
